Dodd-Frank Jolts Private Equity Firms

    

[28 August 2012] -- MANY private equity firms have now registered as investment advisers with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in line with Dodd-Frank requirements.

The SEC registration process is one of the biggest adjustments that the industry has faced since Congress passed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010.

Firms have hired chief compliance officers, or designated them internally, put together compliance policies and procedures and generally have laid the groundwork required of registered investment advisers.
