Ex-trader fined and jailed for Insider Trading

    

Julian Rifat, former trader at Moore Capital was sentenced to 19 months in jail for insider trading charges. In addition to jail time, Rifat was fined 10,000 pounds and ordered to pay legal fees.

The sentencing judge, Alistair McCreath explained, "Public confidence in the integrity of the market is plainly of the highest importance and insider dealing of this kind impacts adversely upon that."

Ritat was arrested in 2010 as a result of the largest insider trading probe of this kind by British regulators.
