Hong Kong FinTech Week 2019

    

Hong Kong Fintech week is the largest event in the industry, attracting a global audience of more than ten thousand executives, entrepreneurs, investors and regulators. The event will take place from the 4th to 7th of November and academics, technology experts and professionals from all around the world will meet at the AsiaWorld-Expo to share their knowledge, increase professional network and learn about global trends in the industry.

We should expect a deep dive into the technology side of the industry, covering topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, big data, blockchain and virtual banking. With a particular focus on virtual banking, as HKMA (Hong Kong Monetary Authority) has approved eight virtual banking license earlier this year. The event will comprise of more than 200 speakers, representing companies such as TransferWise, Kabbage, Credit Karma, Toss, People’s Bank of China and Zest Money.

The first two days of the event will focus on innovation lab visits, company visits, association meetups, seminars, and education events. On November 6th and 7th the focus will be upon the main conference, for full list of the conference programme please see Hong Kong Fintech website.

Global Stage

Digital Currency: Shaping the Future of Payments - We recommend the discussion between Mu Changchun – Director-General of People’s Bank of China and Vachira Arromdee – Assistant Governor of the Bank of Thailand, where they will talk through Digital Currency and how it will shape the future of Payments. They will also reveal the details of China’s regulator on launching its version of digital yuan.

Future Stage

Future Technologies - Don’t miss the fire chat about Future Technologies with the technology experts Fredrik Hedberg - Co-Founder & CTO of Tink, Nigel Verdon – CEO & Co-Founder of RailsBank and Sam Allen – CEO of CompareAsiaGroup. These industry professionals will address emerging technologies and its applications in their financial industry, covering AI, Big Data and Cloud Technology.

Virtual Banks: Advantages and Challenges of a Tech-Driven Model: Data, Cybersecurity & Risk in Hong Kong’s Virtual Banks – As virtual banking is the main topic of the conference, we picked this talk as a must see. Fred Lau – CEO of Airstar Bank, Simon Loong - Founder & CEO of Web Lab and Rockson Hsu – CEO of ZA Bank will discuss the advantages and challenges of the digital-only vision for the banks.

Future Stage

Lending and Credit Scoring: Risk Management – The panellists Joey Kim - Founder & CEO of PeopleFund and Maggie Ng - Co-Founder & CRO of Assured Asset Management will explain the challenges and risks of alternative credit scoring in the Southeast Asia where most of the consumers don’t have credit scores.
