Good afternoon. Thank you for joining the webinar today. We're going to give everyone just a couple more minutes to join and then we'll start the webinar. Good afternoon and thank you for joining today's webinar Prepare your firm for GDPR hosted by me Bethany Sirven of MyComplianceOffice with feature presenter Emily Mahoney.
This ends this presentation and I appreciate your time in listening.
I hope it wasn't too dry. Sometimes data protection can be a bit nebulous in there air, but this hopefully we can bring it down to the ground level and figure out what you need to do in practice and that the pathways to compliance to GDPR has been made a bit clearer for you. Financial services farms and fintechs and more broadly all companies that are in the EU or targeting EU residents need to demonstrate they have taken these steps to prevent any unlawful forms of processing. |
In particular, any unauthorized disclosure, dissemination or access or alteration of personal data. Really it's all about having strong controls about around personal information and ensuring privacy is considered not from top-down, but from bottom up and throughout the organization. |
This really will protect you from any unnecessary liability and especially since you're handling people's financial information, this will help you in the long run and also be good PR for you in many situations. Finally, to end on a good note, if you're already complying or largely compliant with the directive, you really are a long way to complying with the GDPR and you just have to make this final pushes. |
